Workload
The workload is spread throughout the day and can also fluctuate from week to week. However, this does not mean that caregivers have to work around the clock.
Standby time
In addition to working hours and time off, on-call time should also be regulated. These are the hours when the caregiver is not working but is available to provide support and care if necessary.
Reimbursement of care costs
If services that count as basic care are provided by a suitably qualified caregiver and not (as was previously the case) by Spitex, you can have the care costs reimbursed by your health insurance company in many cantons. This allows you to reduce your own share of the care costs. In order for the health insurance company to reimburse you for such care costs, we will find you a billing partner with the necessary cantonal operating license who will bill the care services for you. This can save you up to several thousand francs in home care costs. Our partner organization receives a monthly processing fee of CHF 350 for billing services eligible for health insurance.
Basic care includes tasks such as: Dressing and changing clothes, washing and showering, brushing teeth, feeding meals, bedding and positioning, movement exercises, applying compression stockings and pressure ulcer prevention. Basic care also includes organizing and maintaining a regular daily routine for a person suffering from dementia.
However, they forego additional external relief in care if their usual Spitex no longer helps with care. Treatment care services (wound care, administering medication, giving injections) belong in the hands of a federally certified specialist anyway.
Wages in kind
If the caregiver lives in the house, they receive free board and lodging. This salary in kind is deducted from the net income. This is not attractive for people who maintain their own household in Switzerland. The 24-hour caregivers therefore come from Germany, Poland and other Eastern European countries. This is not attractive for people who maintain their own household in Switzerland.
Hourly care
If you only need care on an hourly or daily basis, you should contact a local Spitex or a care service such as Home Instead. However, hourly care can quickly become very expensive. 24-hour care often offers more security, support and comfort at the same price.
